The band at South High Community School (Worcester) is a growing, urban school instrumental program, which currently includes 89 members. Most of them have been playing their instruments for one or two years before reaching high school. Many of the band members are participants in the Goddard Scholars Program at South High and will complete an especially rigorous curriculum to satisfy the program graduation requirements.

In addition to their musical studies and other classes, the students participate in various school activities (such as drama club, mock trial and robotics, etc.) and a wide variety of sports.

In addition to the Honors Band, South High offers a beginning band class for any student who wishes to learn to play a traditional concert band instrument. No experience is necessary to succeed in this class.
